9th CARBONIA FILM FESTIVAL

AIMS, PROMOTERS, DATE


Carbonia Film Festival, from now on called just Festival, holds two different competitive sections in order to spread and promote knowledge through stories whose main subject is labor and/or migration. It is possible to represent through these themes every manifestation of the human condition, as pain, for example physical suffering or psychological pain; the restriction of the expression of one’s culture, of one’s identity; violence, armed too, on the single man or on the community, organized and not organized; and in general all those restriction of human rights universally recognized that should be defended by institutions.
The competition is open to fiction films and documentaries, feature and shorts.
The contest is organized and promoted by Centro Servizi Culturali Carbonia della Società Umanitaria - Fabbrica del Cinema and Cineteca Sarda.
The Festival will be in Carbonia in October from 10th to 14th 2018.

COMPETITION CATEGORIES, JURIES, AWARDS


The jury will assign the following award at its incontestable discretion

International Feature Film Competition
(This section hosts the 8 selected feature films among fiction and documentaries)

Best Film Award € 4.000
Attributed by a three people jury nominated by Film Festival Direction

Audience Award € 1.000,00
Attributed by the audience attending the screenings

Cinema Clubs Jury Award € 1.000,00
Attributed by the members of Carbonia cinema clubs

International Short Film Competition

Best Short Film Award € 1.500
Attributed by a jury composed by Festival selectors or organizers of Short Film Festivals

Young Jury Award € 500,00
Attributed by a jury composed by the ten young winners of Carbonia Cinema Giovani Contest

Students Award € 500,00
Attributed by a jury composed by students of of Carbonia high schools.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR PRESELECTION AND REGISTRATION


Admitted will exclusively be films whose production was concluded after Dec 31st 2016
The films can have taken part to others festival
All films must be subtitled in Italian (preferably) or in English if the original language is different from Italian.
Film selection is at incontestable discretion of the jury
The registration to the contest must be done on line by and not later than the 25/05/2018. The film can be submitted by link with password (preferably downloadable) or can be sent by and not later than the 25/05 (date as postmark) to the following address:

Shipping charges for materials are up to the participant
Film dvds won’t be returned
The selected authors will have communication by email by 12/09/2018.

GENERAL RULES


All the materials sent for the pre-selection won’t be returned and will be kept in the Festival archive.
Any film without full legal ownership of the rights at least for the attendance and the showing during the festival will not be admitted
